Mark Christensen - has an update on NFPA codes from the road
Here is some news from Mark Christensen regarding NFPA which he gathered during his recent travels.
Even though NFPA-72 will not likely become national law until 2015 local AHJ (authority having jurisdiction) are implementing the codes in public areas. AHJ's can be a city, a county or state and these entities are placing more importance on public safety. The Department of Defence has been using the mass notification standards since 2008, and the federal court system is now specifying MNEC (mass notification and emergency communication) systems into projects going forward. This approach is now being adopted by colleges and universities, who see lower insurance rates as a result of the upgraded safety precautions. The increased safety also resonates with the public. Mark Christensen spoke to a university who said,"if you are a parent and have to decide between two equally good schools, but one has a mass notification system in place, which would you choose?" It's an easy decision as a parent, but also for the schools who implement them.
Mark Christensen, SoundTube's Eastern Sales manager, expects the number of mass notification system will continue to grow over the next couple of years as local jurisdictions set their own requirements for public areas.
Here is an example of one school in Florida already using the system. {LINK}

Espritu Santos Iglesia - uses HP129i
The Espiritu Santo Church in the Philippines is now using HP129i. The designers, Wavetron Marketing, were given very little leeway on where speakers could be installed. Based on the height of the cathedral ceiling and the need for clear voice reproduction the HP129i was the clear choice.
